The best laid plans...

Well, so much for that idea!

We were all set to attend the fostering orientation meeting last night and then Louis was offered (and accepted) a very good paying job with the federal government.  In DC.  We do not live in DC.  Sigh.

As of the end of the month, we will be a "commuter family". We hope that he can find a federal job here within a year.  Until then, he'll live out there with occasional trips home.  Obviously, fostering is now out of the picture - at least until he is back full-time.

Where does the time go?

Really, where?  It's been over a year since I last posted anything.  A lot has happened since I last posted.  We moved half way across the country, started new jobs, and now we're trying for a second baby!  We had wanted to start last year but then I receive the job offer and we decided to put things on hold while we settled into our new life. 

Ben is 3 1/2 now, he will be 4 1/2 when (if?) the new baby is born.  That's a bigger distance than I would have liked but what can you do?  We are currently on CD6 of our 3rd attempt.  We have enough vials from our donor for one more try after this and then, I think, we'll be done.  Yeah, I sound really sure of myself.

Some updates

Louis' daughter wound up being sick almost all weekend so all of my fretting was for nothing.  Oh, well.

On the baby front, Louis felt Ben move for the first time.  At first he didn't realize what it was and I told him that's how I felt the first time!

My 18 year old sister had her baby 2 1/2 weeks early last Thursday.  Luckily, I was able to be there with her because our mom didn't arrive until 20 minutes after her baby was born and her husband was about useless!  She gave birth in a large hospital and it was one fiasco after another (the worst was when her baby almost died and no one realized it but her, because they hadn't cleared his airway enough).  Everything that I witnessed reaffirmed my decision to use midwives and a birth center!  She said that if she has a second one, she will use a midwife, too.
